In this unit you will study the different approaches that sociologists have used to explain health and social care issues. You will consider different definitions of health and illness, and examine the impact that family, occupation, social class and other aspects of our environment and culture have on our health and wellbeing. Why are birth rates falling in European countries? Why are we living longer? Why, despite the equal pay acts, are women still paid less then men? These are some of the kinds of questions that still concern sociologists. This is an internally assessed unit.
